Yesterday afternoon, Austin successfully completed his dissertation defense in the field of zoology. Rejoicing and congratulations are thus in order!
His research focused on how the size of male genitalia affects female selection in fruit flies. I was both amused by the topic (after all, where in proper company, besides among medical personnel perhaps, does one talk about the size of genitalia?) and impressed by his ability to present his research in a way that even non-scientists could understand.
Last, but not least, the effort and perseverance involved in finishing that many experiments and completing a dissertation deserves praise and much thanks for those who helped and prayed along the journey!
