Dr. Corwin D. Smidt – Board President

Corwin D. Smidt is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department in the Department of Political Science at Michigan State University. He studies American electoral politics, presidential primaries, the political news media, campaign politics, and dynamics in American political behavior. Cory joined the Campus Edge board in 2019 and has served as its Secretary since 2021.

Stephen Skinker – Board Treasurer

Steve Skinker worked as a senior transportation planner for 25 years at the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission before retiring in 2016. He worked in similar roles in Louisiana, dating to 1980. Primary responsibilities included development of short and long range multi-modal regional transportation plans for the Tri-County area.  Steve has been on the board since 2018.

Dr. Sara Witmer – Secretary

Sara Witmer (formerly Sara Bolt) is an associate professor of school psychology and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Her research focuses on examining assessment tools that can enhance instructional decision-making, and strategies for promoting inclusion of students with disabilities and English learners in large-scale assessment programs. Sara joined the Campus Edge board in the Fall of 2021.

Eunice Bossenbrook – Board Member

Eunice has a passion for serving and using her gifts to build up the church and community. Her first work experience was as a medical technologist at a Detroit hospital blood bank and second as a research assistant in blood derivatives for the State of Michigan in Lansing. She also has done accounting work alongside her husband (a lawyer) who served as guardian for about 100 wards of the court in Ingham county for over a decade. More recently, she served as an administrator for River Terrace Church for close to thirty years, involved in communications, hospitality, financial and legal oversight. She worked at the church when Campus Edge was born and uses her past experiences and passion for ministry to help guide it. Eunice joined the board in 2022.

Lynette Pemble – Board Member

Lynette joined the CEF Board in 2020. After marrying her husband Mike in 1983, she worked in Tennessee for Tullahoma City Parks and  Recreation Department, and then Putnam County Parks and Recreation Department in Cookville. In those roles she organized activities and classes, hired staff and handled publicity. After moving back to MI and starting her family, she taught elementary Education for Williamston Community Schools for 25 years, retiring in 2019. Lynette is currently an elder at River Terrace Church.

David Sheldon – Board Member

Originally from Bloomington, Indiana, David moved to Lansing in 2019 and has been a member of River Terrace Church since 2023. He spends much of his free time doing woodworking and has a passion for reading and learning. He lives in Holt with his wife, Emily, and dog, Scout.

Dr. Robert Tempelman – Board Member

Robert is a Professor of Animal Science at Michigan State University.  His research program focused on quantitative genetics applied to livestock breeding. He also teaches service courses in statistical methods and experimental design for graduate students majoring in agricultural/biological sciences. Robert has served twice on the Campus Edge board, between 2012-2015 and again since 2017, and as its president since 2019.

Brent Wassink – Board Member

Brent is lead pastor at River Terrace Church. As of 2018 he’s again a Michigander, back after a
22 year pastoring stint in Long Beach, CA. Regardless the locale, Brent aims to understand the
Bible’s teaching and how it applies to life today. He joined the board in 2021.
